Welcome to the
Übersee-Club Hamburg

Established with the goal of "fostering Hamburg's status in the world", the club has always been one of the historic city's focal points, a venue that attracts outstanding minds from the worlds of commerce, politics, culture and learning – a "talking gallery" to cite the famous banker Max M. Warburg's words at the association's founding assembly in 1922.

Since 1970 the Übersee Club has been located in the Amsinck House on the city's beautiful Neuer Jungfernstieg boulevard.

The Übersee-Club is currently undergoing renovation

To enable the owner of our clubhouse on Neuer Jungfernstieg to begin the announced renovation work,
the Übersee-Club is temporarily moving out of the Amsinck-Haus.

From autumn onwards, we will be holding our club evenings at various venues in the city centre for around two years.

Once the renovation is complete, the club intends to move back into the modernised Amsinck-Haus. We also plan to launch with a new catering partner by our side.

The Club is taking a summer break

This year, the Club's summer break runs from 8 July to 16 August.

At the start of this period, from 8 to 20 July, the administrative office team will be offline due to the move – meaning they will be unavailable.

From 20 July to 16 August, as is usually the case in summer, we will only be available to a limited extent via email.

After our move, you can still contact the office as before via the usual email addresses. We'll also be taking our telephone numbers with us.

ÜBERSEE-tag

Lecture Programme

In 2022, the Übersee-Club will be 100 years old. We have compiled all the information surrounding this special anniversary, including a look back at the founding, special speakers in past decades, and an outlook on the anniversary year, on a dedicated website:

To the anniversary website

Every year on or around May 7 the club celebrates its Übersee Day, sustaining a tradition that dates back
to 1950.
The day commemorates Emperor Barbarossa's 1189 conferment of the City of Hamburg's right to operate as a port.

The talks and lectures programme represents the centrepiece of the Übersee Club activities. As a meeting place for influential thinkers, it provides a forum where members can share views and form their own opinions by engaging in dialogue. Several times a year the club invites leading figures from the worlds of commerce, politics, the arts and learning to give talks. The current programme can be found on our German website.

Partner CLUBS

After many decades, our catering partner, the Hotel Atlantic, does not wish to continue its presence in the clubhouse after the end of 2025. We are in talks with caterers about a successor once the clubhouse has been renovated.

Until then, we ask for your understanding regarding limited catering services.

19 Neuer Jungfernstieg – commissioned by Gottfried Jenisch in 1831 and known today as the Amsinck House, the organisation's base presents a fascinating fusion of history and modernity.
